meatup!!!
Meetup this week is at Chance of Rain Cafe:
1522 SE 32nd
Just off of Hawthorne.
Join us join us join us.
meetup moved indoors
The chance of continuing wet weather means meetup is moving indoors this week. I've only had one suggestion for a fallback location, so here it is:
Vino Vixens
2929 SE Powell Blvd.
It's a wine bar with foosball. No smoking. Some sort of food, but also cool with bringing your own. Food, that is, not booze. Here's what Citysearch says.
There's apparently a bowling alley in the near vicinity, so we can probably get beer there if we get sick of wine.
Even if the weather clears up, we'll be going to Vino Vixens. It's always a mess to change things at the last minute.
Also, don't miss the discordian meetup on Saturday.
discordians!
This Saturday is the International Day of Discord, not that the world needs much help lately. What it amounts to is discordians leaving the house and meeting each other. Crazy, huh?
The Portland version is a potluck barbecue in the park, because we know how to do that with no effort, hosted by me and Telarus.

Laurelhurst Park
Potluck barbecue-
bring something to share
Check the site for more details.
Reply here or email johnnybrainwash at hotmail if you're going to come or have any questions.
Remember, sticking apart is more fun when we do it together.
meetup
Next meetup is the usual spot in Laurelhurst Park again. There's a stronger chance of rain or at least cold/damp than we've seen in a while, so watch this space for a fallback location.
If we're at the park, I'm willing to bring the grill, but only if someone else takes responsibility for dealing with it. This includes making sure it's cold at the end of the night, dumping the coals, and usually cleaning up all the stuff everyone else leaves behind. Ideally, they would also be responsible for transporting it so I don't have to hang around while everyone else is leaving.
Post here if you can help with the grill, or have a suggestion for a fallback location.
meatup meatup meatup w/ barbecue
Meatup is the usual location in Laurelhurst Park. There were tons of people last week, so come on out if you haven't met us before.
I will definitely bring the grill, and I've got some lighter fluid, but I hope someone can bring charcoal. I have none, and don't want to have to do the last minute panic shopping I've done the last few times. Any takers? Please.
I'll bring whatever hot dogs I've got left, but again, no time to shop this week. Good things other than dogs and sausages are:
- burgers (of course)
- veggies like peppers, zucchini and yellow squash (cut them up and toss them in olive oil and salt)
- chicken drumsticks (the family pack is always really cheap)
- kabobs
- all the non-grillables: chips, slaw, etc.
Plates, napkins, forks and spoons, etc. are always welcome. Condiments too.
Post here if you know what you're bringing, so others can plan accordingly.
next meatup
I didn't hear any other plan, so if no one says different, we'll be at the park again next Thursday. Decision on grilling sometime next week.
Last night was awesome- biggest crowd we've had in ages. I counted 18 people at one point and may have missed a couple. We're seeing new faces again, so all of you n00bs have no excuse. Come join us and be assimilated.
saturday bike ride
Saturday bike ride!
Who wants to come? Meet at Chateau Brainwash at 1PM, and ride to Oaks Bottom. It's about 4.5 miles out, so 9 miles round trip. But you can figure on stopping to rest and hang out by the river for as long as we want before coming back. Maybe we can drink some beer or something after.
Bring a water bottle and any other beverage you want, some snacks, and whatever sundries you want. It should be cool with a chance of drizzliness, which is my favorite weather to ride in. Don't let a few drops of rain scare you off. You're tougher than that.
Let me know if you're coming, so I'll know to expect you.
Meatup this Thursday
Meatup is in our usual spot in Laurelhurst Park at 7PM, between the bathrooms and the pond on the Ankeny side.
I will bring the grill, so be sure to bring something to cook. I've got some hot dogs and a few assorted veggie dog things.
We've got new people in town, so come out and say hello.
meatup next week
Meetup next week will be in our usual spot in Laurelhurst Park- on the Ankeny side, between the bathrooms and the pond. The weather's not as nice as it has been, so if it starts looking crappy for Thursday, we'll post a fallback location. Check in by Tuesday or Wednesday to see if we're grilling.
Last Thursday on Alberta was pretty fun. We handed out a bunch of Esozone flyers, hung some Mu Ryu posters, and Ian and Vin both sold some art. We talked about going monthly, at least until Esozone is over. What do you all think? I say yes.
La Merika
There was great discussion, debate, dispute even, at the recent Goodfoot meetup, on the subject of who were the first Europeans to discover America. Since that night, I have toiled in the New Alamut archives, diligently searching out the truth. My efforts have borne fruit, and it may now be revealed who were the first paleface colonists:
